CountryMouse's Diary

Part 26

Rainbow swirly bar

Friday, March 1, 2002: Every couple days or so I dump the water out of Mutsu's "tank", rinse everything carefully, dry with paper towels, and let air out for a bit. I noticedMutsu this morning that there is a fine hard-water line forming on the piece of plastic that is his cave in the back. We live in a hard-water area; and I have always used distilled water in my steam iron to prevent clogging-up of the steam vents. It now occurs to me that poor little Mutsu's wheel that he rides around on through the water might get clogged with hard-water deposits, so I'd better start using distilled water for his tank. It takes about one cup (8 fluid ounces) of water to fill his tank; and I keep distilled water on hand anyway, so it won't be a hardship to do this. Whatever it takes to make him a happier, more long-lived Mutsu.

Saturday, March 2, 2002: Oscar, my little Wave UFO person, was still in his Nosferatu form at 3am yesterday morning (Thursday night/Friday morning) when he beeped on for just a few seconds (from 1am until 9am the alien is "unavailable" and snow/static fills the screen). As he stood there smiling, the message WHAT TIME? scrolled across the screen once, upside-down and backwards. Then back to static. Well, he blinks on like this every single night, at 3am--I'm just usually asleep or on the computer or otherwise not paying attention. :-p

Wave UFOThen yesterday afternoon he turned into the little light-bulb guy, with the message, "LIGHT UP!". Now I've taken to hiding him far far away from the microwave, as I want to keep him in this form for a while. Before this form, he was in the little Nosferatu form for a long time. Cute in a monster-y kind of way, but...

Last night the Mothership came to take Oscar for a looonnnnggggg ride. I said, YES (you have a choice of YES or NO, to let him go onto the ship); and a little guy wearing dark glasses escorted Oscar onto the ship. At some point during his journey, Oscar seemed to think of me or something on that order, and decided to come back. It had been 100 years since he left (wow, time does funny things!). I never had checked before; but it seems after he gets back from one of these Mothership rides, his power meter is down to 50, just like each night/overnight, when you check him in the morning.

Cat'r is writing a text-adventure game about Teddy! I've played the beginning of it, and it is CUTE! and fun! :-)

Tuesday, March 5, 2002: My new little virtual pet, a MicroPet Baby Dino, arrivedMy Baby Dino today! (I got him from Melissa on the VPetsML Yahoo! group) I started him up at 1:34pm. Click on the pic at right to see him larger. He looks cute. I think the snack food (or is it a snack food?) doesn't seem to do anything towards his happiness; so it's up to me to make him happy via the tennis and/or poker games. I am not really good at these (plus the buttons are a bit stiff), but prefer the tennis game so far. There seems to be a slight element of skill in timing with it. Anyway, my little Dino's name is Daniel.

Regarding Oscar, my Wave UFO: Saturday evening he changed into a form I have never never had before: a creature that looks like a robot/puppet form of Ned (on "South Park"), saying , "GUFUFUFUFU" when he arrived! However, he turned back into the large triangular-headed alien (with the message HELLO HELLO) on Sunday evening. At 3am Monday morning, the message AROHA scrolled across the screen, upside-down and backwards. This is *probably* Japanese "Engrish" for "aloha", although it could also be ahora (Spanish for "now").

The clothes for my Briarberry bears that I ordered from Ouma, the Doll Lady, arrived on Saturday--so very cute! Lots of dear little long dresses with matching bloomers and sunbonnets and such!

Later: Teddy's page is up. Not totally finished (by a LONG shot! LOL!), but a beginning. Also, having to go through the entire site again, "by hand", to make sure there are no broken pictures or links. If you find something broken, please email me (my email address is on the Mouse House Tamagotchi Page) and let me know where and what! Thanks. :-)

And later still: Okay that is a *weird* time for a virtual pet to go to bed: 9:45pm. Oh well! Daniel, my little Baby Dino is now snoozing. I have no idea what time he wakes up in the morning.

Wednesday, March 6, 2002: Ack! I was so busy working on my Father's Day page that I totally forgot to take care of Daniel, my Baby Dino! His happiness is at a big fat ZERO. He *did* transform out of the blobby little baby stage that looked like an egg on legs. Now he's actually got a neck and body. :-p  He's got really cute "foot action" when you play the tennis game with him.

still Wednesday: I was taking pretty good care of Daniel today...but then while I was busy working on my Briarberry page, he decided to go to sleep earlier than last night--this time at 8:10pm. With a poop by his bed. :-(    Nuts. I was doing pretty well at taking care of him. I hope this isn't going to shorten his cute little life. Oh! At 7pm he beeped. I looked, and it was RAINING! I quickly gave him a little umbrella. So cute!

Anyway, about my Briarberries. Be sure to check back from time to time, as I have more photos I need to scan (just got a batch back yesterday) and put up!

LIGHT UP UFO alienThursday, March 7, 2002: Oscar, my Wave UFO person, is in his cute little light-bulb-guy form, having arrived with the LIGHT UP! message. :-)

Daniel, my Baby Dino, seems okay--the poop beside his bed all night hasn't seemed to make him sick more often or anything. He evolved to his next stage of development this morning. He's getting more recognizable as a baby dino now. I had to leave him for a while this afternoon, and I know his happiness meter was all the way down when I left; but when I got back I fixed him up on food and games, and he seems okay. He *does* keep going to bed at different times each night, though, which is really weird. Tonight he called for "lights out" at 7:50pm.

Heh. I actually did NOT work on my webpages today. :-p

Saturday, March 9, 2002: Oops! Poor little Daniel, my Baby Dino, went to sleep with two poops by his bed last night. o-o;;  Well, da mouse took a nap from 5pm until 9pm and when she remembered to check Daniel, he was already asleep. Eek! However, all was made right when Daniel awoke at...9:41am today (what is with these weird go-to-sleep and wake-up times??). And then Daniel evolved into his next stage about an hour later, looking more like a dino as time goes by.

Oscar, my Wave UFO, is currently in the froggie GERO GERO form and doing well.

Thursday I brought home some more fuzzy people! Well...how could I resist those cute little faces?! As soon as I walked into the toy store, I saw these cute little black-faced lambs (Chops, a Ty Beanie Buddy, a "lay-down" lamb--so soft and pretty!) on an Easter/Springtime display. So of course they were calling to me and I had to take one along with me all around the store while I shopped for Hello Kitty things, etc. :-p  After looking through all the Sanrio things (and getting several things), I looked at the other Ty fuzzies. I got a Sizzle Beanie Baby bear, because of the look but especially the *feel* of his beautiful vibrant red fur; and also an irresistible pastel pink Ty Classic teddy bear named Rosette. She is like a little pink angel, she's so soft and lovely!

Eek, it's soooo windy today! Rainy too. A cold front is going through. A good day to stay home and read, watch TV, play with toys, etc. :-)Sizzle

Later: The rain is finished, the wind is still roaring, and the temperature is dropping. Good to be inside. :-)

I tried to search around the Web for a picture of Rosette the Bear, but the ones I found just don't do justice to her beauty. I took a group photo yesterday of her and other fuzzy people, so when I finish this current roll of film, eventually you will get to see my Rosette.  :-) However, here is a picture of Sizzle, the wonderfully soft and pretty Beanie Baby. (click on the picture to see it MUCH larger!)

Sunday, March 10, 2002: ::sigh:: See that mousie workin'! Okay, I only have a couple more things I want to get done on the site, so that things are pretty much the way I want: nice-looking/viewable in just about any resolution. I still have to fix up two more side borders (the one for the Other Vpets page and the one for the Holiday Pages top page), and I also want to do the Final Transformation page as a triple border one.

THEN I can move forward with adding more pictures, more pages, etc.

On a serious note: I still haven't decided if I am going to watch the documentary film, "9/11" tonight. Perhaps I will tape it for later and watch "The X Files" with Bunnicula and Cat'r (and hope to tape *that* sometime later in a re-run). They have said "9/11" is not "gory", but still...will it be "sensationalistic"? And is it too soon/too much to see this now? For all of us, I mean--not just the mouse.

11:35pm: Honestly, I am not *trying* to be a bad caretaker for Daniel, my Baby Dino. I just keep forgetting him or leaving him in the other room, so that I don't hear his little musical calls. Tonight I found him asleep ILL. All I could do was turn out the lights. I will take care of him asap in the morning. I hope he is a resilient little dino!

Tuesday, March 12, 2002: ::whew:: Well, I'm glad yesterday (the 6-month anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the U.S.) is over. I taped "9/11" on Sunday night, then watched it yesterday. Very well done, not exploitative, but rather showing the life of the firemen of one particular company and their experiences days before 9/11, that day, and beyond. A tribute to heroes, very tasteful. But of course I started feeling awful about all of it hours later. Everything, all the feelings from that day, came back pretty hard. At least it feels a bit "safer" here in the U.S. now than it did that day, when we didn't know if more attacks were imminent.

Mutsu USABut enough of that. My less-little-than-before Baby Dino, Daniel, grew into what looks like a pterodactyl. He goes to bed at what seems a different time every night. This makes it hard for me to keep tabs on him and be careful to have him "cleaned up" before he hits the hay. So for several nights now he has been sleeping with poop beside him. :-(  Sorry, Daniel!

Oscar, my Wave UFO, is currently in the little Nosferatu form. Chuggin' along...

Mutsu (and his tank) is/are all washed and "airing out" at present--need to add distilled water and get back to playing with him.

2pm: Finally! My little Wave UFO, Oscar, turned into my just-about-favourite-form, the little EGG INTO THE BOWL! He looks like a *cute* little Dalek with cute little stick-figure arms that wave up and down as he bounces around the screen. :-p Oh, BTW, see above for a pic of his LIGHT UP form.

I probably have forgotten to mention: the musical sounds and beeps on my Baby Dino are really cute and pretty! The only thing at *all* that sometimes is frustrating for me with this virtual pet is being able to hit the buttons in time for the which-way tennis game. Otherwise, this vp is easy to take care of and CUTE. OH! The other night there were beeping/toodley-ooo sounds, I checked to see what was up, and there was SNOW on the screen. I gave Daniel a little muffler/scarf, and he put that on. VERY CUTE! But today the weather was bright sunshine. I gave him his cap, and it was even cuter, if that's possible. He was wearing a backwards baseball cap and smiling in a silly/cute way. This is my favourite part of this virtual pet--the weather.

Oscar, Daniel, Rosette, Chops, Sizzle, and lots of others have been hearing lately: music by Julia Macklin (folk/rock singer/songwriter--an EP I was sent to review), Sting, and Brave Combo (a tape a friend sent me--not your grandfather's polka! This is more "border music", I think...like what we have heard when we've gone to Don Pablo's--loving it so far!).

Wednesday, March 13, 2002: A new addition to the Mouse House: Teddy's True Story! Go check it out! :-)

Sunday, March 17, 2002: Eek! Poor Daniel, my Baby Dino! I was a bad bad caretaker ::looking ashamed:: This morning, when I *finally* got up (which was late, since I was up very very late, playing my Harry Potter PSX game), I discovered a little angel where Daniel had been. :-(  When I went to turn the sound back on, pressing both the A and C buttons, it started up a new egg, so I simply put the tab back in. Bye bye, little Daniel! I enjoyed your visit here. I especially liked dressing you up for the various weather conditions you encountered. ::waving:: ::sniff::

There was a time when I was a very conscientious virtual pet caretaker, getting only mametchi and mimitchi in Tamagotchi...

At least Oscar, my Wave UFO, is still okay. :-)   Mutsu is still in dry dock, so to speak. I need to put water in his tank again and turn him back on. He will've kept his same level of friendliness and activity, though. The only way things go back to the beginning with Mutsu is if you hit the reset button.

Monday, March 25, 2002: Soooo sleepy--been staying up late watching old movies! Anyway, a new page is up: Mouse Tea Party. Also be sure to look for Daisy (the well-travelled mousie) there at the party too! And look for Teddy in a few pictures on the Briarberry page!

Thin rainbow line

Thursday, March 28, 2002: Oscar, my Wave UFO, has been through some changes. I forgot to mention that on Tuesday, March 19th, he turned into what I call the "Da Bomb" form, which I think is actually female. Her message, when she appeared, was DO YOU KNOW ME? One of my favourite forms.   Last evening s/he turned into what looks like a ping-pong ball with a mohawk (!), with the message SHUWA!

I have missed the mothership's visits...if they have been happening?...because I often have the sound turned off.Creatures Playground Well, the sound turns off only for playing games and feeding and other caretaking. The alien can STILL make a very loud, prolonged BEEEEEEEEEP! when it wants your attention. ::grin::

Yesterday I was looking around on eBay at various virtual pets, then bid on and won (with Buy-It-Now) a copy of Creatures Playground, the little kids' version of Creatures. I have a copy of the original Creatures game, but I've never played it. I felt it might be too difficult for da mouse, what with downloads and add-ons and so many things to *do*. This is for children 5-9 years old--just my speed ::grin::. This is also actually a sequel to Creatures Adventures, which I may very well get if I like Playground.

Oh! Been workin' on the pages again. Go have a look at Christopher's page! Many pictures of Teddy there, which I will probably do copies of in *his* section.

10pm: Added one picture to the Briarberry page, at the bottom: Sarahberry skating past her fans (who are all wearing red, white, and blue!) after winning the ice skating medal (this was in honour of Sarah Hughes winning the gold medal at the Olympics).
