CountryMouse's Diary

Part 25

Rainbow swirly bar

Saturday, December 1, 2001:  Due to health problems, etc., I didn't get around to updating about Eckart, my Wave UFO [EDIT Feb. 3, 2004: See this entry about breast cancer, because that's what my health problems were]. I will do that later on, backdating the entries (I still have notes of everything that happened to him, up to and through the day he left/his batteries ran out).

SantaclautchToday, at 11:57am, I started up my Santaclautch no Tamagotchi. I can't remember if I put new batteries in last year or not...I tried to get the back off today, but the screws are in so tight that all I would succeed in doing is totally stripping the screws. In fact, I think I will have to take it to a jeweler to get the back off it, when the time comes. So I hope my Santaclautch makes it all the way through 'til Christmas on these batteries!

Oh. My Pocket Hello Kitty is still active...well, dormant? Still going, but I always forget to take her for walks/play with her. That's one thing about Hello Kitty, though: she is always your friend and never scolds you, no matter what.

Tuesday, December 4, 2001: So far my Santaclautch has looked like a snowboarder wearing a knitted cap and now a skateboarder wearing a backwards baseball cap. :-P  He's "run away" a couple times, so I guess that's his "discipline" meter that's starting to fill up (you send the "Super Duck"?? after him and the duck/bird/whatever-it-is drags your Santaclautch back onto the screen). I think I've mentioned this in years past: the sounds that a Santaclautch makes are all little tinkly, jingly sounds, not beeps. Very pleasant to raise one of these. :-) Ah, I see I wrote more about the Santaclautch in December 1999.

Sunday, February 24, 2002: Another long break, this time due to complications arising from getting new guts put into my computer and things not copying over exactly as planned. :-P  I still need to do backdated entries for Eckart, my Wave UFO of last year.

I sent my Santaclautch back home to Planet Tamagotchi  at the end of January, just before Candlemas/Groundhog Day. I was able to get all the various forms of the Santaclautch and 2 of the 3 forms of "reindeer". Next year, next year. :-)  I also finally "tabbed" my Pocket Hello Kitty, as I really was not remembering to walk with her.

After that I finally broke free from the chains of feeling I needed to keep strict online records of every last virtual pet I raised/cared for by taking care of a Doraemii-chi and NOT making a page/writing about it here (mainly because I didn't have FrontPage98 reinstalled, but also because I was rebelling ::grin::). I eventually "tabbed" her after it was fairly evident that she was not going to get any new items--I think I didn't catch all the times she called, so that I missed chances for her to get other neat gadgets.

January also saw me realizing that if I was ever going to get the rest of the robotic pets IMutsu wanted before they were gone from the stores forever, I had better do it NOW. So I got (a LOT of these were greatly discounted, as the stores are getting rid of the last of their inventory of these): a Christmas Poo-chi, a Bulldog Poo-chi Friend, a Meow-Chi, a Chirpy-Chi, two Petal-Chi, a Bot-ster (I haven't even tried this one out yet!), a Kitty the Tekno Kitten, a Shelby, a Mutsu (cute little "water looper" aka "curious little fish"!) , and a Mousies (also haven't tried out yet). My favourite so far in this group is Mutsu. We have him in the living room, and Bunnicula loves feeding Mutsu everyday. Mutsu is very life-like in many ways, singing pretty burble-y songs, making cute noises, and swimming around. Often he carries on for quite a while after you've played with him, fed him, talked to him. It's very pleasant hearing him sing to himself (or to his little friend Michi) in the other room.

I started up another Wave UFO a few days ago. I think his name is Oscar. He has gone through several transformations due to the microwave. I actually started him up because of theories running around in the VPetsML Yahoo! group about Furby and Shelby having an effect on Wave UFOs. That hasn't happened with mine. But I *have* enjoyed getting reacquainted with my Furbys and Furby Baby. ::grin::

ChibiBottoMonday, February 25, 2002: I forgot to mention that I also got a little ChibiBotto off eBay. It's a little robot clock that shows expressions via eyes on the screen of the clock and also via a little heart light and little feet (with which it can dance or pound the desk in frustration, etc.). This might sound cruel, but you smack it on its noggin with your pen to get various faces and other effects. There are "secret codes" for tapping out the various rhythms. These four-symbol codes scroll across the screen from time to time. There is a decoder in the instruction leaflet; and there are also sites online that have large charts of various codes and what they do. It's a very cute and entertaining little critter.

Wednesday, February 27, 2002: Well, I've been making a few changes: I finally put some anchors in diary pages, so that if I link to a specific date on which I started up a virtual pet, you don't have to scroll all around on the page to find it ::grin:: ; I cleaned up the Tamagotchi Links page; I fixed (and often simply removed) a ton of broken links; I added a diary icon to the My Hitorikko Chicken page (why didn't I do that at the time?!); I have joined the VPetsML WebRing; and I have changed the name of this diary in preparation for some other changes/additions. I am planning on *finally* adding a large section about my stuffed animals and my Briarberry bears (special subsection for them). I have, for the most part, written about virtual pets AND everything else in this diary, as the old name said; but I want it to now have a more general name so that I can link to it from the "fuzzy" section that will be going up.

On the vpet front: Oscar (I think that *is* his name), my Wave UFO, is chugging along (click on the pic to see it larger). He's currently in anWave UFO octopus-like form. I haven't been catching the little messages that scroll across the screen when he changes; but since I've seen most of them before, I don't feel I have to break my neck running into the next room in time to grab him as he's being zapped by microwaves!

I am awaiting a new little virtual pet, that I got from Melissa on the VPetsML Yahoo! group. It's a little Baby Dino. Many people on the list/group have said that's he's easy to raise and fun, so I decided to go for it.

I am also awaiting a Berrylynn w/mini (Briarberry bear), some Briarberry clothes, and some handmade fancy clothes for my Briarberries made by Ouma, the Doll Lady. She said the clothes will be mailed out by the end of this week! ::bounce bounce:: I have lots and lots of photos I need to get scanned to put up in the new section; and when I get the clothes from Ouma, you'd better believe I am going to take pictures of people in THOSE clothes, *too*!

Currently I have a little tableau of bears in the bedroom: Sarahberry wearing the ice skating outfit and medal (of course, in honour of Sarah Hughes winning the gold medal in Women's Figure Skating at the Winter Olympics!), gliding by a "crowd" of fans (Benberry, Berrylouise, and Maggieberry) all dressed in red, white, and blue.
