CountryMouse's Diary

Part 50

Rainbow swirly bar

Wednesday, March 2, 2005, 12:48am: March Whoa, I totally missed posting on the first day of March! In fact, I even forgot about new calendars for my pages until tonight! I even thought something was wrong with my computer clock just now when I checked to see the day of the week...and it told me it was the 2d! I thought, "Wow, that power outage must've done something weird to my computer!". But I did turn everything off as soon as the power went off, so there would be no surge. I just somehow misplaced a day. :-/

I put in a new page or so in the Garden of Friendship dedication section: it's Awards etc.

You know, I feel like a kid that got "left behind" a year in school, no longer being with my classmates. If I hadn't quit the Garden of Friendship last fall, I would be getting my Yearbie plaque now...I see a lot of familiar names receiving their plaques. And I would've been among them if I hadn't been so rash as to quit instead of seeing about a leave of absence. ::sigh:: And I look at the pages I made last year (I saved them/burned them onto CDs) and all the things we all shared (wow, that GOF 4th Birthday Party was some shindig!) and miss those times gone by...   Well, there are new memories to be made.

Thursday, March 3, 2005, 1:49am: A new little page.

12:50pm: And a new quiz!

4:54pm: Oh my! An Angel in Disguise from Heaven's Angels is going to spoil me ALL MONTH!! Eeeeeep!   :-)   Here is my page dedicated to Lady Goodness [pages removed Sept. 2005, when I left Heaven's Angels].

10:53pm: As soon as I discovered that Margi Harrell had this (complete!) on her site, I was determined to build a page around it. Here it is. GLORY!

Friday, March Forth! 2005, 4:27am: Yes, I am still up--I must be nuts. I am feeling very discouraged about my webpages and any so-called abilities I may have with HTML. Anything that is remotely "sophisticated" on my site is stuff I was allowed to copy and paste from sites that give you the code when you use their linkware. I do know how to do simple triple Sad Cometbackgrounds (tables). I know how to fool around with the HTML once it's *in* FrontPage. But I don't know how to hand-code in Notepad. Nor do I want to do that. It hurts my brain and stifles any creative impulses I might have.

Sorry for ranting...I just found out that the kids over at Vikimouse's place [EDIT Nov. 6, 2007: I can't believe her site is gone, but I've been checking for months. I don't know if she's ever coming back] are learning and successfully using a layering script (for which Vikimouse has a tutorial) for layering the Mousepad graphics and making elegant houses and yards. I looked at the tutorial and thought my brains would leak out my ears. I am doomed to a simplistic website forever. Unless I get a brain transplant.

Sunday, March 6, 2005, 11:31pm: Ah, who cares about the layering script. :-P  I have other things I'd rather do. :-)

Hey, there have been some big changes as to residents in The Condominiums! No photos yet. In fact, the moves happened just this evening! Most of my Beanie Babies have gone into hibernation. At least they are here in the house. My Bean Sprouts are in hibernation in a storage locker, along with a bunch of stuff belonging to the Caterpillar. The Beanie Babies moved out to make way for a lot of people who have been arriving over time, sitting on/filling up the couch, lolling around all over the bed, and hanging out anywhere they could find room! Things are much better now. :-)  I'm still gonna grab some people to put on the bed at night, though! It's always nice to have at least one fuzzy nearby, in case of bad dreams or sudden thunderstorms and whatnot.

Wednesday, March 9, 2005, 1:46pm: The latest on the crochet front can be found here in a LiveJournal entry. I have photos I need to upload...

Urgh, as to reading, I never got very far in The Outermost House by Henry Beston. ::sigh:: I am not sure why I bogged down. I have been reading a lot of bits and pieces of informational stuff, mostly crochet and spirituality. But I actually finally started reading an entire book again: John Edward's After Life: Answers from the Other Side. I have read a couple of his books in the past; watched a lot of his TV program, Crossing Over; been a part of the Friends of John Edward forums; and generally trust what he has to say. His writing style is easy to read and comfortable. :-)

Also I'm currently reading The Tara Book by Gehlek Rimpoche with Brenda Rosen, which is a little introductory book that also contains "rituals for protection and healing from the Female Buddha".

Wednesday, March 16, 2005, 11:33pm: I do NOT need yet another blog/diary/what-have-you! So what did I do? I signed up for a blog at Blogger. Really I did it because it *seemed* the only way I could reply to this gal's post about a cape she made and that I am currently working on. It's the Lion Brand Road to Romance cape, which can be done in knit or crochet. She and I are both doing the crochet version. You can see the pattern here.

Oh, the, um, blog? It's called Mouse Droppings. I probably should've thought of something a little more genteel or intellectual or something, but I was in a hurry. Well, that's my excuse anyway.  :-P

So in addition to madly crocheting on the Road to Romance cape (and matching cloche), I am also working on a zigzag/ripple scarf. I plan to do a matching hat too. All this I want to get done before Easter, as I don't know what I'll need for outerwear until we get near the day--our weather is so variable here!

I'm way way behind in getting photos of FOs (finished objects) up in the Needlework section. Probably after Easter I'll get a round tuit.

There's a party going on my guestbook!! The Garden of Friendship partygoers have arrived! In a day or so I'll put up a page of the cute gifts they've been leaving. :-)

Crochet stuff that I've been posting about over in my LiveJournal. Click ze link to read all about it! Well actually, click here, here, and here. Or read backwards from within the Crochet stuff entry. :-P

Thursday, March 24, 2005, 7:45pm:  I finished all the work on my Road to Romance cape and cloche. I ended up putting frog closures on the front of the cape (one frog hidden by a large flower and one visible). I put a smaller flower on the side of the cloche, riding low. Very flapper-ish! Pics soon...I hope! Bunnicula can't find his digital camera!
