Part 54
Monday, July 4th, 2005: Hey, all you fellow countrymen and women:
Don't forget to go (re)check out my Fourth of July page! Have a safe and happy holiday! 3:08pm: Here are pics Bunnicula took of our little fireworks celebration this morning (scroll down past the flower piccys). AND: Three FO's (finished objects) in my needlework section! HATS! Sunday, July 10, 2005, 1:24pm: I only read a small portion of John Edward's After Life: Answers from the Other Side. I think I just was not in the mood for something spiritual at that time. Also I was reading a lot of informational stuff about crocheting and knitting. I just finished reading Zen and the Art of Knitting. At the beginning and during the parts where the author writes about how she came to knitting and about her own family and knitting, this is an interesting, engaging book. I also enjoyed the experiences of women who found knitting to be healing or helped them through illness or hardship. Otherwise this book was deadly dull. Add to that the extreme yarn snobbishness that she (and many of those she interviewed) displays that simply drives me up the wall. Well, that's why it took me a month to read this (in between reading other things, including working on a biography of Kenneth Grahame, author of The Wind in the Willows). I own Zen and the Art of Knitting; so I felt I had to finish this book, to justify my having spent money on it. I just started a library copy of No Idle Hands: The Social History of American Knitting. THIS book is already interesting, written in a lively conversational style. I can see I am going to want to own a copy of this! Monday, July 25, 2005, 2:44pm: HOT today, 95oF. with the heat index (actually feels like to the human body) at 113oF. Eek! I know I haven't written much. Need to catch up at some point. Been knitting, crocheting, playing Animal Crossing again; going places too.
