St. Anthony Chaplet

I used to have a St. Anthony Chaplet. When I left the Roman Catholic Church, I gave away a lot of my rosaries and chaplets. Since then I have wished I had this chaplet again. So I finally made one for myself. This is just black wooden beads and silver-lined E beads and seed beads, done on Beadalon wire. The prayers said upon this are widely available on the Web.

St. Christopher Chaplet

Why do these always look so much larger in the photos? This one is much tinier than the other one I made. This one is for Cat'r, to keep him safe in all his travels. This is made of hematite stones (for protection) and black seed beads, done of Beadalon wire.

 Mousie's Pride Beads

This is a concern that has been on my mind for years. It's about time I made some beads to help focus my prayers about it. Here is my thinking behind these beads:

I used pink cord to string the beads. Also, I used seven colours instead of the six rainbow colours now used because I am using the Anglican format of beads. Seven seemed to feel right to me.

"Original Rainbow Flag:

The Rainbow Flag as we know it today was developed by San Francisco artist Gilbert Baker in 1978. At the time, there was a need for a gay symbol which could be used year after year for the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Pride Parade. Baker took inspiration from many sources, from the hippies movement to the black civil rights movement, and came up with a flag with eight stripes. Color has always played an important power in the gay rights  movement--Victorian England symbolized homosexuality with the color green, lavender became popular in the 1960s, and and pink from the pink triangle has caught on as well--and the colors of the gay flag were no different. Baker explained that his colors each stood for a different aspect of gay and lesbian life:

* Hot pink for sexuality,
* Red for life,
* Orange for healing,
* Yellow for the sun,
* Green for nature,
* Blue for art,
* Indigo for harmony,
* Violet for spirit."

Mousie's Extended Family Beads

 The pendant on this set of beads is Eleanor Wiley's Sacred Wheel of Peace, which represents all spiritual paths and beyond. Each of the beads represents one of the many holy helpers--gods, goddesses, totems, angels, etc.--that mean a lot to me in my everyday life. I think I made this as a comfort set of beads, to remind me that my "extended Otherside family" is always there for me. The idea for this has been percolating for at least a month.
