CountryMouse's Diary

Part 21

Rainbow swirly bar

Tuesday, May 2, 2000:  Esther seems to be doing well (*knock on wood!*), as long asMule Variations I don't feed her *any* snacks or feed her regular meals too often (I wait for the hungry hearts to go down to at least two empty). What she's been up to: she's been hanging out on IRC, surfing the Web, watching "The X Files", and listening to music (Tom Waits, Sting, Samuel Barber, etc.). Click on the picture of Tom Waits' new CD at right to see it larger. Oh yeah, she also helped me buy a vacuum cleaner online--a Shop Vac! At WalMart Online. It's already on its way. Hope we like it. The price certainly was good! And Shop Vac has a nice, complete, helpful Web site.

Wednesday, May 3, 2000: It seems Esther is getting sick about once a day, unless I Lime, Fashy, and Peking, with Esther the Tamagotchiam super careful about cleaning up poop immediately and not ever letting her hearts get down to 4 empty. I am not used to a Tam adult that is this high-maintenance unless he/she is in the latter years of his/her stay on Earth. Still, she is so cute, she is worth the extra care she needs. She has that same really cute foot action as a mimitchi when she's playing the number game. There she is in the picture at left, sitting in the lap of Lime, my teddy bear I named after my favourite Saber Marionette (click the picture to see it much larger).

What Esther has been up to: she saw "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?" Monday night. We have never watched this program here at the Mouse House before; but with neat celebrities on this week, playing for charities, how could we resist?! We all saw David Duchovny playing Monday night. I can't wait to see Emeril Lagasse play! BAM! :-p  We also watched "Ally McBeal" that night. Last night we all hurriedly watched last week's episode of "Angel" on tape; then we watched real-time "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", then "Angel". Powerful episodes, both of them! As to "Millionaire", a co-worker of Cat'r's taped last night's episode for us, so we will watch that tonight, plus tonight's real-time episode.

Oh! Esther also helped me *finally* get a links page up! After having this site up since 1997, it was about *time* I put up a general links page, places I go to frequently, places I like. xo watch

still Wednesday, May 3d: Woohoo! I just *love* Sanrio stuff! I got a totally cool Badtz-Maru "jungle" watch/compass! Click on the little picture at right to see it larger! It's very well made--not at all cheap or flimsy. It looks bulky, but it's so *very* comfortable--kind of a wraparound fabric band, with velcro.  I don't work for Sanrio, but I sure do help keep them in business! ::grin::

I heard from the Conductor at The Rail. All my junctions have been activated! So go take a ride on The Rail, on any of several different trains on which my site is a stop! There is one on my front page, one on my Snow Pictures page, one on the main Tamagotchi page, one on my rat lover page, and one on my Holiday Pages page (redundant! eep!). The neat thing about The Rail is that each day, your neighbours to the East and West of you are different than the day before! So when you take a ride on The Rail, you get to go somewhere new everyday!

still the 3d: While "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" was on (during a commercial break, actually), Esther decided to leave. :-(   She was only 11 years old...I have left the picture of her as a hashizotchi up on the My Tamagotchi page, instead of putting up a picture of her as an obaketchi (little ghost), since I really enjoyed the way she looked in her adult form. Remember, though, that although she is now in the form of an obaketchi--she was a Japanese Tam, so she doesn't immediately become an angel nor does she ever get into a spaceship--she will eventually work her way up to becoming a full-fledged Angelgotchi. Bye-bye, little Esther! I hope you had a good time here on Earth! I wish you could've stayed longer...I'll miss you!

Peach TamFriday, May 5, 2000: Today is Children's Day in Japan; and here at the Mouse House, it's Tamagotchi Day! On this day in 1997, Tamagotchi first arrived in our house and were hatched. So (almost) every year, on this date, I start up a Tam. I decided not to use Eggy Peep's yellow w/orange egg (a U.S. Tam1) this year, because I want to try for an oyajitchi, which is the secret character in the Japanese Tam1. My one and only Japanese Tam1 is the peach-coloured one pictured at left, so Peachy Keen was hatched in it this afternoon! I am hoping to get a masktchi, then an oyajitchi--wish me luck!

Sunday, May 7, 2000: Peachy Keen transformed into a tamatchi at 5:12pm today. He *was* up to 75% discipline, but fell to 50% with the transformation. I have been raising him so as not to let him have to beep for food or play/treats. I forgot how much I dislike the which-way game ::grin:: compared to the number game in the Tam2's (P2). I can't seem to *win* with Peachy, so he is getting a lot of snacks. :-p  Also, I plan to discipline him only up to 75% at each level--I'm hoping for a masktchi. I hope I'm not taking *too* good a care of him and end up with a mametchi!

Peachy got to see Veal Battle on "Iron Chef" this afternoon! I taped it Friday night from the Food Network, but we didn't get a chance to watch it until this afternoon. That's all the TV he has experienced thus far. Mostly he has been surfing the Internet with me--da mouse has been on a graphics shopping spree lately. Shopping for graphics online is fun and CHEAP!

Wednesday, May 10, 2000: Peachy Keen turned into a masktchi at 6:10pm today! His discipline level had been at 50% for about an entire day, then I decided it wouldn't hurt to chide him once more when he was being "selfish", so shortly after his discipline meter went up to 75%, he evolved into his adult form. I also started taking not-perfect care of him in the tamatchi stage, letting him beep for food and play, etc. *Now* I plan to take super good care of him at *this* stage and maybe get an oyajitchi! I noticed that it was terribly difficult to win at the which-way game with him throughout his childhood years; then when he became an adult, it suddenly became very easy! I seem to remember at least one of my other masktchi being very easy to play this game with.

Peachy watched "Titus" with us Monday night, but "Ally McBeal" was on too late for him. Last night he got to watch "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", but not "Angel". However now that he's a masktchi, he will now stay up until 11pm (if memory serves me right); so he'll get to watch a LOT more programs with us!Hooverphonic CD

This morning Peachy awoke to the music of Hooverphonic ("Blue Wonder Power Milk", pictured at right--click on the picture to see it bigger)--I was "walking" Pikachu, swinging his case like a pendulum, in time to the music.

Sunday, May 14, 2000: Peachy has not been doing a whole lot...he's very easy-going, though. He *always* lets me win at the which-way game. All I have to do is push the left button, consistently!

Today is Mother's Day here in the U.S.A. I hope everyone has a lovely day! Click on the image below to go to my little Mother's Day page.

Happy Mother's Day

still Sunday, May 14th: At approximately 3:45pm Peachy Keen reached 100% discipline! Here's hoping he's on his way to becoming an oyajitchi (secret character in the Japanese Tam1)! I did, however, lose a which-way game to him just after disciplining him. Hmm...He's been watching bits and pieces of the "Johnny Bravo Mamathon" on the Cartoon Network this afternoon. Eight hours of Johnny Bravo--whoa, Mama!

Friday, May 19, 2000: Peachy has been uh, napping a bit lately (I have had to pause him now and again, when I knew I wouldn't have time to look after him properly). This afternoon I wasn't paying close attention, and his hungry hearts totally emptied out and he beeped for me. Now I don't know if I've lost my chance at getting an oyajitchi... :-(

lain DVDI know I had Peachy paused Monday night, so he didn't see "Ally McBeal"; I can't remember if I had Peachy awake to watch "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Tuesday night (we taped "Angel"also but haven't watched it yet); and I also don't remember if he saw some episodes of "serial experiments lain" (a very cool, very cerebral anime series we've finally gotten back to watching--click on the picture of the first DVD to see it larger) or the 1-hour special episode of "Friends" last night.

Peachy *did* help me make a grocery list this afternoon; and he's been hearing a lot of Joan Baez music subliminally, in his state of suspended animation. I dragged out all my J.Baez CDs to see what I have. I have just about *everything* on vinyl+cassette+CD; but there are a lot of the albums I would love to have in CD format. Some have been remastered; and all are much more convenient and sound better than vinyl. Last night I watched part of a Web broadcast of a concert Ms. Baez and Eliza Carthy gave in Philadelphia. They were both in fine form, and the concert was wonderful!

Sunday, May 21, 2000: Perhaps I have been toooo careful with Peachy Keen. I have had him in suspended animation (on pause) whenever I didn't think I could take perfect care of him. However, the other two Tams I had that turned into secret characters did so at age 10; so I guess Peachy is not going to change any further, except when it's time to go home to Planet Tamagotchi...

Last night Peachy got to go to Don Pablo's Mexican Kitchen, though! This is where Eggy Peep, my first-ever Tam, said his farewells to us. However, I made very sure that Peachy continued to have all his needs met. There is no *way* I could've heard him beep in there,Chocolate volcano! though--it's a very noisy restaurant, given the fact that it used to be an old factory; and the sound just bounces around in there something fierce, plus it was a Saturday night, it was very crowded, music was playing, and everything. Da mouse had (what ELSE?!) quesadillas for supper and then shared a CHOCOLATE VOLCANO (wowowowowow!) dessert! Everything was hot hot HOT, except the creamy vanilla ice cream on top. What a divine experience! Click on the picture at right to see it mouth-wateringly larger...hehehehe!
