CountryMouse's Diary

Part 4

Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, 4:40pm: Well, I haven't said much about Blueberry Muffin during his adult life. He's just been enjoying the easy-going life here of Web surfing, listening to music, watching TV, watching people play videogames, etc. He *did* get to read, over my shoulder, the ending to "The Long Dark Tea-Time Of The Soul" by Douglas Adams, that previous Tams had heard parts of read aloud! When Blueberry goes back home, he and Everett and Georgia and Wild Thang will all get together and put the pieces together so they all will know the entire story! (see August 14th entry, in Part 2) I don't think Meep heard any of this book....Oh! Blueberry Muffin also read "Idoru" by William Gibson with me (via Tamagotchi peripheral vision/remote viewing, which is explained in the August 14th entry, in Part 2, also). We enjoyed it immensely!

still Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, 5:38pm: Well, the last things Blueberry Muffin was looking at before he took off and went home to Planet Tamagotchi were Web pages about William Gibson, then an email (from the tamagotchi-l mailing list) about angelgotchi. What timing. :-/ Then he saw me waving to him and saying goodbye (this was at 5:20pm). I'm sorry I didn't give you a more interesting, exciting visit, little Muffin. I hope you enjoyed it here, though. I enjoyed having you around! Have a nice flight home! Say hi to everyone for me! Bye-bye, sweetie!

Monday, Oct. 6, 1997: I hadn't meant to hatch another virtual pet until after I went to see Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance...but I got a little Japanese Angelgotchi in the mail that I had ordered. I was persuaded to activate it. It's very very cute! But I am still unsure of what I am doing, since I don't have English instructions for it. One note: the Tamagotchi Easy Chair (this picture shows Wild Thang enjoying its comforts) is comprised of the top of an *angel* box, with Angel Cards as a footstool! How appropriate for my newest little visitor!

Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997: I haven't said much about my Angelgotchi. Through the help of various people on the tamagotchi-l mailing list, I have pretty much figured out how to help this little spirit (who became twins!--my first-ever "secret character"!) grow towards becoming a full-fledged angel. The only thing I don't understand is their going through a door about once a day. When you call them back (via the call/praise icon, then tapping on the egg), they look rather peeved at you, like they were *busy* and why did you bother them? :-) Other than that, she/they have been fun to take care of! Quite different from regular Tamagotchi. Different foods, different game, different evolution totally. And the goal is to help your little spirit become ready to take his/her place with the other angels in Angel City. From what I have seen in various pictures, the Angelgotchi take care of moving stars around, making snow, helping new little spirits get acclimated to the afterlife, playing pranks on each other, etc.! ;-)

When I went to see Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance (which was absolutely wonderful!!!) on the evening of the 7th, I paused Angie before going, because I didn't feel I could take her to the show (this was before she became twins). I certainly wouldn't have had the time or inclination to take my eyes off the stage! :-) Just before I did put her in suspended animation, I made sure she was all full up on everything. When I reset the time later that night, she promptly fell asleep. This didn't seem to have any ill affect on her. This is only the second time I have ever paused a virtual pet (see Sept. 10th/11th entries in Part 3).

Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997: I was told by someone who understands Japanese that it says on the packaging for my Angelgotchi that it responds to sound! So for the last two days, when the door appears (see entry above, for Oct. 15), I open the door with the call/praise icon. Then instead of tapping on the egg as I have before, I just say (in a loud-enough tone) "Come back!". My twins pop back in! Interesting!

My twins, Angie 1 and Angie 2, have been praying a lot more lately and have also been needing attention more often. I take it this means they are getting more accomplished and confident and will soon be fully capable of taking on all the duties of full-fledged Angelgotchi in Angel City! I will miss them when they go, but I know they will be doing good work and having a good time.

Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997: Well, I have succumbed to the temptation now and again to pause my Angelgotchi. If you think it is difficult taking care of an aging Tam1 or Tam2, what with their frequent beepings for food and attention, multiply that 2 or 3 times for the Angelgotchi in their later years! ::sigh:: The very things that make an Angelgotchi so amusing for most of its stay here are the very things that can be bothersome near the end of its time here: lots of different options and activities and lots of interaction with your Angelgotchi. Where once Angie prayed only once or twice a day, she/they (she became twins) pray as often as every 1/2 hour, followed by pooping, which you need to clean up. There is also no "easy way out" with the Confidence Hearts (what would be Happy Hearts on a regular Tam), so you *have* to play the jump-the-shooting-stars game, which does require some skill and concentration.

On another note, I have gotten the Tamagotchi CD-ROM and hatched a Tam on my desktop! I had one of these in demo form a week or so ago; but he got homesick before he reached adulthood, asked me to phone home for him...then he *went* home. :-( His name was Blobby (he became Bobby when he became a tamatchi). So when I hatched my desktop Tama today, he of course was Blobby/Bobby reincarnated. I absolutely love these desktop Tams--their expressions are SO cute, the sounds they make, the games you play with them! Anyone who loves Tams just *has* to get this!

Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997: The Angelgotchi finally got to go for a walk yesterday, late afternoon, and see autumn foliage and beautiful blue sky. Earlier in the day (or was it the day before?) they got to hear "Fearless" by Cyndi Lauper (from her "Sisters of Avalon" CD) and "Angeles" by Enya (from her "Shepherd Moons" CD). They got to dance to "Caribbean Blue" :-)

Friday, Oct. 24, 1997: Blobby, my little desktop Tamagotchi, turned into a tamatchi this morning! Since he is no longer a cute little blobby marutchi, but instead a cute little tamatchi, he is now known as Bobby :-)

When I have to be in the other room, doing something else, Merry Mouse sits at my computer and keeps Bobby company, talks with him, etc. I can hear him making little happy sounds and such from the other room.

Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997: My Angelgotchi, Angie1 and Angie2, are now 22 days/years old...but this is to some degree artificial, as I have had to pause them for rather large amounts of time each day, for sanity's sake ::grin:: Their hungry hearts are now emptying out every 10 minutes! And while you are taking care of *one* need, they actually disrupt/stop you from what you are doing for them in order to beep for something *else* they need! I have told them that if they expect to be good angels, they should stop being rude and impatient!

Tueday, Oct. 28, 1997: What with computer problems off and on for the last few days, I am just now getting everyone's stats updated. Bobby, my desktop Tama, turned into a cute mametchi! As for Angie1 and Angie2, any age they show beyond 21 years I would consider artificial: I have had to pause them frequently and for rather longish periods of time: they are totally disruptive with beepings every 10 minutes or less. And if you don't attend to them right away, they beep again, every couple minutes or so! I don't remember regular Tams being like this :-/ On the GameBoy Tamagotchi front: I now have both the Japanese version of this and the US/English version of it! So I have 3 Tams going between those two cartridges :-)
