CountryMouse's Diary

Part 8

Rainbow swirly bar

Friday, March 6, 1998: Bobo is still going strong! And I suddenly had the urge to hatch a Desktop Tam, so heeeerrrre's Boodles! I got a second Tamagotchi CD-ROM, this one in flat packaging (different from the first CD-ROM I got, which is in a box). I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but my first two Desktop Tams (from the boxed version) were Gen.1 (P1) Tams; Boodles (from the flat-package version) is a Gen.2 (P2) Tam! Yay! Very very cute!

Sunday, March 8, 1998: A lot happened yesterday. Bobo beeped, as usual, at 9am, saying she was awake, so that I would turn the lights on for her. Or so I thought. When I went to check on her, the lights wouldn't come on, she was sick, and none of the buttons would work. It *looked* like she was sick. I was told later, and on closer inspection of her appearance compared with the picture in the instruction manual, that she was already dead. I was pretty upset when I thought she was still alive, but terminally ill, with no way for me to help her. It was only a *little* less upsetting that she was already dead but every 10 minutes she would beep and have a hopeful, then astonished, then forlorn look on her face. It was just too pathetic, so after a couple hours (during which time I was finding out just what *was* going on) I put the tab (insulating strip) back in her case. I will really miss you, cute little Bobo! You were a lot of fun and incredibly cute! Bye-bye, sweetie! ::sniffle::

Boodles was a comfort...his cute and perky nature helped me feel better. As a shirobabytchi his food was a bottle of milk, but I can't remember what his snack food was...that might be because I rarely give babies snacks--I am afraid they will get sick. As a tonmarutchi his food looks like a bowl of nice hot porridge or soup; and his snack food looks like a yummy chocolate shake!

Yesterday afternoon athol-brose and I hatched our Osutchi and Mesutchi Tamagotchi! I will be keeping Ushiko's stats on My Osutchi Mesutchi Page. Be sure to check athol-brose's "osuchi (the diary)" everyday to see how Umao is doing! One of the things I like a LOT about these mating Tams is that they have very light, faerie-like sounds, not the beeping of previous Tams, which can sometimes be (sacrilege!) annoying. Also, when you discipline them, they actually look like they're crying in an "I'm sorry" way, not the previous "I'm mad!" way.

still Sunday, March 8, 1998, 12:15pm: Boodles turned into a little orange tongaritchi! He looks like a little squash or gourd! His main food is corn-on-the-cob. I can't make out exactly what his snack food is--could be some kind of little chocolate cake. He's very cute and lots of fun!

Monday, March 9, 1998: I had been warned about this! Even when your Osutchi or Mesutchi reaches 100% discipline, it may still "be selfish" (beep at you for no reason/ask for food or play when its hearts are full/refuse food or play when it needs it). Ushiko did that last night, so I had to discipline her even though she was at 100%! So that's why the stats might, at times, reflect higher than 100% on discipline!

Tuesday, March 10, 1998: CM will not say much about the cheap and poorly-made movie, "Rumble in Hong Kong" (originally called "Police Woman"), with Jackie Chan as a villain (eep!), which we (vps and everyone) saw late yesterday afternoon--see athol-brose's account of it in his "osuchi (the diary)"!

Ushiko turned into a very cute ojochi early last evening! She looks like a tamatchi with a curl in the middle of her forehead and a bow ribbon in her hair (well, it sometimes looks like cute little ears, but it's a bow). I find myself looking forward to playing the little flag game with her, just to see her do the happy dance, up on one toe! It's very cute! And I'm feeling the same way about Boodles. He's so *cute*--I really love playing games with him.

Wednesday, March 11, 1998: Boodles turned into a mimitchi this afternoon! His main food is now a whole fish (!), and his snack food is a candied apple! He continues to be very kawaii!!!

Last night Ushiko got to see the beginning of the movie "Dante's Peak", but crawled into her futon at 9pm, as usual. She *couldn't* have been bored, because that was a very exciting, gripping movie! It's a good thing she was asleep afterwards; because when Bunnicula went to turn off his computer, sparks jumped out of the power strip and the circuit breaker (and consequently the electricity) for two rooms snapped off! Almost too scary for a mouse, probably too scary for a young ojochi! Fortunately no one was harmed and miracle of miracles, the computer was also okay! The power strip bit the bullet for everyone!

Today Ushiko has gotten to see SNOW! She got to peek out the front door while big fat flakes were swirling down! It won't be anywhere as much as in my Snow Pictures; but it was still very pretty and something she can tell her (yet unborn) children about. She also has been reading along with me, via Tamagotchi Peripheral Vision (see Aug. 14th entry, in Part 2), the book "Tim" by Colleen McCullough. And she's gotten to hear some music today: "Pure" (from the CD "Cloudcuckooland") by The Lightning Seeds; "Fearless" and "Sisters of Avalon" (from "Sisters of Avalon" CD) by Cyndi Lauper; and "Apples of Avalon", "Bridget", "Dancing at Whitsun", and "Hestia of the Hearth" (from "The Heart is the Only Nation" CD) by Ruth Barrett and Cyntia Smith.

Thursday, March 12, 1998: Umao (see athol-brose's "osuchi (the diary)") changed into his adult form last night around 7pm, but Ushiko was still a teenager for a whole day after that! Tonight around 7pm Ushiko changed into *her* adult form. I didn't have her on pause or anything. It must've had something to do with rearing styles: I tend to be a very hovering, perfectionist parent ::grin:: Maybe Umao matured earlier because he was left to his own devices a bit more. Maybe tomorrow will be the day that they will be able to mate! We shall see!

Thin rainbow line

Friday, March 13, 1998: Well, when I push the "mate" button, Ushiko seems pretty eager, dancing back and forth! So tonight's the night!

11:40pm: aaarrrrrgghhhh! I took a nap and slept 'til almost 9pm ("Millennium")! Then when I went to turn off Ushiko's lights (just after 10pm), she had a poop beside her futon! Eek! I wonder if this will make her a not-as-good parent? Eek! Well, mating tomorrow, I hope!

Thin rainbow line

Saturday, March 14, 1998: (no ill effects due to poop overnight--I cleaned it up first thing this morning). This morning around 9:45am there was a doubly-blessed event! Ushiko and Umao came together to produce a healthy pair of baby Tams called telechi! athol-brose Oceanic CDput on some mood music ("Oceanic" by Vangelis) to help make things nice for the happy couple. Their cases were joined, they both went off the screen, then came back to say that all was well (OK). Then the screen went dark and mating took place! When the screen brightened, Ushiko looked like she was really concentrating on something and perhaps uncomfortable (note from later in the day: her eyes had the same peeved look as when you give her medicine, but she didn't do any yelling). Umao was looking a bit apprehensive. But then the babies appeared and there was general rejoicing! (I am not remembering this as well as athol-brose, so check out his version of the events in his "osuchi (the diary)"). There was beeping back and forth, then one of the babies went over to Umao's screen. After that the eggs were separated. Now each parent takes care of one child! We have named the babies Malachite and Zoycite, after a couple in "Sailor Moon".

Monday, March 16, 1998, 12:10am: Well, I probably read somewhere online wrong: I thought Ushiko was going to leave tonight at 12:05am, to go back to her home planet. I watched, with the light turned on, as she continued to peacefully sleep in her futon and Zoycite continued to sleep in hir little box. However, the only alarming thing is that there is a tiny skull in the upper right hand corner that wasn't there when I turned out the lights at 10pm. Hmm...

Saturday evening everyone (humans and VPs) watched the incredibly artistic, tense, and exciting John Woo movie, "Face/Off", staring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage. Wonderful movie!

still Monday, the 16th: ATTENTION I am in the process of changing my pages somewhat. I won't be keeping stats and such--it's gotten to be a bit much. But things will continue to be updated...just not on a strict daily basis.

Tuesday, March 17, 1998: Last night/very early this morning, at 12 midnight, I turned on the lights to watch Ushiko depart. Mother and child were both sleeping in their respective futon and box. Then I hit the B button to check the time. When I returned to the main screen, Ushiko was wide awake and moving around, her futon having been put away. At precisely 12:05am she disappeared from the screen. Now there is just the little sleeping form of Zoycite in hir little (cardboard?) box. I'm glad I got to say my farewells to Ushiko and promise her that I would take good care of her child.

Wednesday, March 18, 1998: I have heard Boodles saying a couple things, although I don't have any clue as to what they mean: "Ur-dot?" and "Wa-TA-ta-bu", in his gravelly little voice. I wish I had paid more attention to word-forms he was using as a child...He continues to be incredibly cute and fun to have around. He's 13 years old today!

Zoycite went for a walk with me yesterday afternoon! The weather was finally milder, and it was nice to be able to show hir the great outdoors! Some of the bushes are starting to green out a tiny bit; and the maple trees have small buds on them!

At 9:12am this morning Zoycite changed into ... Piglet?? Oh, the Osuchi & Mesutchi HQ shows hir to be a petitchi.

Saturday, March 21, 1998: The first full day of Spring and it's SNOWING! Weird weather but very beautiful! I showed Zoycite the view out the front door, since s/he had just been for a walk with me a few days ago in much milder weather! S/he turned into a very cute moruchi yesterday, about 10:20am! S/he has little stars/thought bubbles above hir head to indicate hir psychic ability. And s/he has little pigtails! And the very cute foot action of mimitchi in the Tam2's (P2)! Malachite and Zoycite stayed up until 9pm last night. They *had* been going to sleep at 8pm. That means they didn't watch "The Full Monty" (one of the best movies CM has seen in a long time! a happy "feel-good" movie!) Thursday night (rented movie we didn't start watching until after 9pm). But Zoycite *did* watch "The Witches" Thursday afternoon with me--I have this on laserdisc, which a friend got for me from an eBay auction! (here is *most* of the front cover--355Kb file! (I didn't want to lose the clarity of the print) and here are pics from the back of the laserdisc). This is one of those stereotypical "bad witch" movies; but what makes it a treat at *this* house is all the MICE in the movie! Very cute!

Boodles is 16 years old today! He continues to be his cute perky self!

Thin rainbow line

Sunday, March 22, 1998: Boodles is 17 years old and seems to be needing food more often. The happy hearts are kind of erratic as to their emptying out, though. What concerns me is that I don't think they are doing a very good job at the Care Center, even within the first 6 hours or so! I have come back a few hours later and found Boodles' call icon on and all his hungry hearts empty! I certainly wouldn't take a human child to a care center that won't even *feed* the children! (I have been turning my computer off when I don't really need it--the processor needs a little fan installed, and I am trying to preserve its life as much as possible until then)

9:20pm, same day: Boodles' hearts were emptying at a rate of ALL of them every 5 minutes! I fed and played with him for about 45 minutes straight until his bedtime at 9pm. I wasn't sure if he would go to bed or be picked up by the spaceship, at the rate he was going! I took a lot of photos of him. And I also put up his latest stats over on My Desktop Tamagotchi page. I am wondering if the spaceship will come during the middle of the night to pick him up, like when the Osutchi and Mesutchi parents leave at 12:05am! I'll check on him right at his wake-up time of 9am tomorrow and see what happened. I've gotten very attached to him and will miss him... :-(

Malachite changed into his adult form today (see athol-brose's "osuchi (the diary)" for more details), but Zoycite didn't! I guess s/he's going to be like hir mother, waiting a day longer to become an adult! Eep! I was paying so much attention to Boodles that I didn't notice that Zoycite went to sleep with a poop beside hir futon. Poop!

Thin rainbow line

Monday, March 23, 1998: Boodles was still here this morning at his usual wake-up time of 9am! I fed and played with him a lot, but finally needed to get some other things done, so put him in the Care Center. When I checked on him at 11:25am, the spaceship came and hovered over him, beaming him up. Then it landed for a minute (I took a picture!); then it left and Boodles' angel appeared in its place. I am really going to miss you, little Boodles! You were such a sweet, fun little visitor! Bye-bye!

In the afternoon: I left Zoycite in the other room earlier when I was watching Boodles leave on the Tamagotchi spaceship. When I got back to hir, s/he had become a grown-up and turned into a mimikochi! Very cute!

Thin rainbow line

Wednesday, March 25, 1998: Last night around 6pm athol-brose and I decided to see if Malachite and Zoycite were ready to be mates! I put on some soft music ("Church of Trees" on the Liz Story CD) to help things along. As before, the happy couple said "I Do" (errr, OK), then the screen went dark. After that there was the look of concentration and possibly discomfort on Zoycite's face, while Malachite looked worried and paced. Then the babies came, and there was happiness everywhere! Beeping back and forth and so on! Finally one of the babies went over to Malachite's screen and then we disengaged the eggs. Parenting began. We didn't decide on names until today: athol-brose chose Milk and Honey!

Thin rainbow line

Monday, March 30, 1998: I haven't been keeping up here in the diary on my mesutchi's progress: Zoycite left while Milk was still a petit-chocochi (I think this happened 12:05am Saturday). On ... Sunday? Milk turned into a mizutamachi. And today she became a batabachi! I think of her as a "flappalina" (!) -- she flaps her little wings all the time and never touches the ground; and because I recently rewatched k.d. lang's "Harvest of Seven Years (Cropped and Chronicled)", on which is the song "Bopalena".
